US: Apple, Inc. sues HTC over i-Phone Patents

 The FT reports that HTC, the Taiwan smartphone manufacturer, is being sued by Apple, Inc. for patent infringement. HTC was a contract maker for brands such as Palm, HP and T-Mobile, before it became known as a branded of its own.

HTC was little known in Europe and the US until it made the first phone using Google’s Android open-source software for US wireless carrier T-Mobile in 2008. It now holds 7% on the US smartphone market.

This week Apple became offensive. They asked the US Trade Commission and a Delaware court to ban HTC's sales in the United States for violating more than 20 of their patents relating to the i-Phone user interface, underlying architecture [...]
