Spotify US Launch Delayed...

The launch of Spotify is delayed, partly due to Apple's pressures against it. Apple is currently lobbying record companies and questions the viability of Spotify's ad-based business model. It is therefore unsurprising that the Spotify Ap is still not available on i-Tune in the US.

In truth, this seems to be a classic example of foreclosure where the owner of a platform (Apple) is blocking a service (Spotify) from accessing its platform to avoid competition with its own service (i-Tune). Streaming is now very much perceived by Apple as a substitute to downloading due to (1) the ability to listen to music on the go almost everywhere (3G, 4G, Wifi) and (2) to Spotify's [...]
