Sale of Abbey Road Studios Triggers Public Emotion

 Struggling with the debt burden of Private Equity firm Terra Firma’s £4.2bn takeover in 2007 EMI has put the Abbey Road Studio for sale. The Financial Times stresses that Studios have become increasingly expensive assets in an industry where cheaper technology has allowed recording artists to use home studios or even laptops for much of their works. It is even more so considering the decline in record sales and the state of the music industry. Abbey Road remains a national symbol and is associated with the Beatles recordings (but also with Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and so many others).
