Possible limitations on IP rights over the merger between Sadia and Perdigão
In 2009, two of the major Brazilian companies in the food area merged and created the BR Foods (or Brazil Foods). After review by the Brazilian Anti-Trust Authorities of the proposed merger, it was initially recommended that BR Foods sells one or two of its brands or even licenses one of its most important marks to a competitor, in order to try to avoid any control of the market by the newly established company. The recommendations for restrictions is still subject to revision by the Anti-Trust Authorities.
