The Washington Post tells the story of Phil Stewart who took a photo of a collapsing President Jimmy Carter being held up by his doctor and a Secret Service agent during a 10-kilometer run at Camp David in 1979. This photo which came to be one of the defining images of what many viewed as a failing presidency earned Stewart $75,000 over the years. He was the only person in the race with a camera and with “media and photo credentials".
