Pay More and We'll Fast-track your Patent Application

Companies and inventors who pay extra will soon be able to obtain a quicker review of their patent applications under a proposal by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office announced yesterday.

The new proposal would allow applicants to pay an undisclosed amount on top of the standard $1,090 filing fee. 

Under the PTO's proposal, applicants could choose from three different tracks:
- The first track would be the prioritized examination.
- The second would be the traditional examination.
- The third would allow the application to be put on hold for up to 30 months.
