MOVIES: Earlier this month the FT reported that the film industry was disappointed with the slow-down of the movie online distribution market (with revenues for 2009 of $291m significantly lower than the $360m forecasts by the media research group). The movie industry hoped that the increase in revenue from online distribution platforms would offset the fall in their DVD revenues. The FT points out that the relative failure of online distribution platforms is due to the fact that consumers do not see them as empowering them but rather as preventing them from watching digitally downloaded movies on the devices of their choice.
