new Greek court decision on blogs
Decision 25552/2010 of the Thessaloniki Court of First Instance re-examines the issue of whether the legislation regulating the press (Law 1178/1981 which imposes strict liability for the owner of the medium) should be applied by analogy when considering defamatory comments posted on a blog. More specifically, the decision denies the application of the aforementioned legislation to the blogosphere, with regard to the administrator and owner of a blog, considering that the purpose of blogs is not the dissemination of information on a massive scale, but "the exchange of ideas, thoughts and analyses, through a mechanism of dynamic communication".
