New Decree that modified the internal structure of the Brazilian PTO

The Federal Government has recently enacted Decree No. 7.356/2010 (published on November 12, 2010), which modified the internal structure of the Brazilian PTO.

The purpose of the Decree No. 7.356/2010, which revoked Decree No. 5.147/2004, is to bring sensitive and crucial modifications to the internal structure of the BPTO, in order to improve the way the issues are conducted by the PTO, bring more quality and speed-up the exam of trademarks, patents, and industrial designs.

Decree No. 7.356/2010 created new bodies directly associated to the BPTO's Deputy, such as:

i) the General Quality Coordination, with the purpose to review and standardize internal [...]
