New Copyright Bill in the US
This week the Senate unanimously approved legislation to clarify US federal copyright laws. The Copyright Cleanup, Clarification and Corrections Act was introduced by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (Democrat, Vermont.) and Jeff Sessions (Republican, Alabama). The new proposed statute intends to (1) implement recommendations from the Copyright Office to make its operations more efficient and (2) clarify aspects of US copyright law. The bill intends to make it easier for the Copyright Office to transition to digital recordkeeping and allow filers to submit documents electronically.
