Mont Blanc Cannot Use Mahatma Gandhi's Image and Name in Ad.

Lexorbis reports that the Indian government has denied permission to Mont Blanc to use Mahatma Gandhi image on their range of pens.

Mahatma Gandhi cannot be the face of Mont Blanc pens’ Indian advertising campaign. Mont Blanc wanted to use Mahatma Gandhi's image on their exclusive collection of pens with the message “Mont Blanc Pen is mightier than the sword”.  

Solicitor general Subramanium told the court chaired by Chief Justice Balakrishnan that two applications seeking permission to use Gandhi's image on their pens were rejected because a national emblem like Gandhi cannot be used for commercial purposes.
