Microsoft Takes a More aggressive Stance

Microsoft has just announced that it was bringing a patent action against other IT giants such as Google, YouTube, Apple, AOL and facebook before a Seattle federal court. Microsoft alleges that the defendants infringe some of its patents applied for in 1990 and granted between 2000 and 2004 covering key functions the defendants use on their websites (technologies allowing pop-up stock quotes and tools that recommend other articles based on what a user is reading).

The defendants argue that Microsoft has waited too long to enforce such rights over technologies now commonly used over the internet.
