Incumbent Telco Companies Go After Google and YouTube

Everything that concerns the internet and data traffic has relevance for the content industries.

European Incumbent Telecom Operators France Telecom, Deutsche Telekom and Telefonica are putting increasing pressure upon Google and YouTube that they accuse of free riding on their high-end networks.

The Telcos find unfair that despite pocketing huge advertising revenue Google refuses to share any of it with them. They argue that it would be fair for Google to participate in network related investments and expenses. After all, recent studies show that a good share of internet traffic is Google or YouTube related.
