Hong Kong: Recent Amendment to Copyright Law regarding Business End-Users of Copyright Works

A new copying and distribution offence under the Copyright (Amendment) Ordinance will come into force in Hong Kong in the second half of 2010. The amendment is intended to promote corporate accountability and responsible governance in ensuring compliance with copyright law in business establishments. The new offence targets regular or frequent copying or distribution in the course of business activities of unauthorized copies of four types of copyright works: newspapers, magazines, books, and periodicals.
