Greek torrent sites shut down following complaint by Greek Collective Society

Police in Greece have shut down the country's largest download site (www.gamato.info) and arrested six people following a complaint from EPOE, a collecting society for audiovisual works. EPOE has been recently active in enforcing the intellectual property rights of its members, as it had taken steps in shuting down another similar site (www.greek-fun.com) in December. Following these developments, another similar popular site (www.blue-whitegt.com) has voluntarily shut down.

EPOE - which was also responsible for succesfully going after Greek subtitle sites in 2008 - has apparently chosen to took a more vigilant stance against torrent /racker sites which disregard its complaint letters. [...]
