Google officially closes censored Chinese search

Google announced today on its official blog that it has stopped censoring search results for its Chinese users effective immediately, following months of speculation that the company would pull out of the Chinese market. Visitors to Google’s Chinese website, google.cn, are redirected automatically to the uncensored Hong Kong website which is offered in simplified and traditional Chinese. According to Google, this solution will ‘meaningfully increase access to information’ for the Chinese people, while complying with Chinese law.
