Google Loses to Montparnasse and Flach Films
The facts: Flach Film (producer), Montparnasse Video (distributor) and the French association against movie piracy (ALPA) were suing Google for posting three links on Google Video to the full, free and unauthorized versions of the movie ‘The World According to Bush’. Several take-down notices had been sent to Google by the right holders. On February 20th, 2008 the Paris commercial court issued an injunction ordering that Google (i) pay 150,000 euros of damages to the plaintiffs, (ii) stop reproducing and making available the movie at stake and (iii) publish on its home page the decision.
