Germany: Alleged Plagiarism in Berlin - No Mixed and Matched Feelings about Cut and Paste

Spiegel International Online tells us about Bestselling 17-year-old German writer Helene Hegemann who is being accused of plagiarism after it was revealed that her debut novel "Axolotl Roadkill" (already printed at 100,000 copies) contains passages taken from a blog about sex and drugs in Berlin's techno scene. She denies that she did anything wrong and casually declares "I can't understand what all the fuss is about". The sections in question were written by a blogger who calls himself Airen. Spiegel notes that there is therefore somewhat ironic that Airen likes Hegemann’s novel but feels at the same time that his copyright has been infringed.
