Ford Sues Ferrari over Alleged TM Infringement
The US auromobile giant Ford Motor Co. is suing Ferrari for trademark infringement. Ford filed a case in a Detroit federal court alleging that Ferrari had copied the name of a popular truck, the F-150, and used it for a new Formula 1 race car. Ferrari’s Formula 1 vehicle, the F150, does not have a hyphen separating the “F” and the “150“ in the name. Ferrari argued that the “150“ portion refers to how long Italy has been unified.
