While the power struggles between China, Google and Rio Tinto are going on, many question China's behaviour. One other hot issue is China's commitment to protect intellectual properties.

Some stress that IP infringement, especially in the software industry, is massive and is getting worse. For example, Robert Holleyman (CEO of the Business Software Alliance, BSA) told the House Foreign Affairs Committee this month (during on hearing focusing on US cyberspace policies in the context of Google hacker attacks) that 80% of PC software used in China was illegally copied.
