Dutch Court Goes After ISPs in Pirate Bay Case
This week the Hague District Court ordered two major Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the Netherlands (Ziggo and XS4ALL) to block their internet users from accessing The Pirate Bay website or face fines of €10,000 per day. The court also noted that suing each individual infringer was not a viable option for right holders. In 2009, an Amsterdam court ordered The Pirate Bay itself to block traffic to the Netherlands, but that proved unenforceable since the site is hosted outside the country.
