The Copyright Tribunal to be reactivated in Malaysia

On 11 March 2003 the Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism announced the reactivation of the Copyright Tribunal which had its operations suspended in 2003 as "no case was ever recorded since its establishment".

The Tribunal was constituted by the Copyright (Amendment) Act 1996 to replace the High Court as the proper forum to review and determine royalty and licensing payments, to adjudicate in cases of disputes with collecting societies or where an application for a licence has been refused.
