Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2010 introduced in Rajya Sabha.
Business of Cinema reports that The Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2010 was introduced in the Rajya Sabha on 19 April, 2010) by Minister of Human Resource Development, Kapil Sibal. Regarding music the Bill seeks to give independent rights to lyricists, composers and singers as the authors of literary and musical works in films. If passed, the Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2010 will extend royalties and to other benefits flowing from works' commercial exploitation (currently only held by music companies and producers) to professionals like authors and lyricists.
