The New York Times reported today that the Chinese government has immediately struck back after Google stopped censoring results for users from mainland China by redirecting them to the uncensored Hong Kong website. The government now directly blocks some searches on ‘sensitive’ topics, or else blocks links to certain results.

The controversy has clearly upset Beijing, since Google’s moves focuses the attention of the world on China’s censorship policy.
