Brazil may start a dispute at WTO against European Union

After one year of unsuccessful negotiations, the Brazilian Government is considering to start a dispute against the European Union at the WTO (World Trade Organisation). The dispute refers to the seizure of generic medicines that were on the way to Brazil (from India), where there is no patent protection, and were aprehended by The Netherlands (at the Roterdam port), where there is patent protection. Since there is patent protection at The Netherlands, the authorities claimed that the fact that such medicines arrived at the Roterdam port, it was considered a patent infringement, and had to be aprehended. Brazil claims that the aprehension may difficult the access of such medicines by Brazilian people. [...]
