E-bay, Yahoo and Facebook support Google against Viacom

In a court brief filed this Wednesday (see HERE), eBay, Facebook and Yahoo urged federal court for the Southern District of New York to dismiss Viacom's copyright infringement suit against YouTube.

These Internet companies have urged the court to hold that YouTube is protected under the safe harbor provisions of the 1998 Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). US law protects Internet service providers from the illegal sharing of copyrighted material among their users if the service providers agree to take down offending material when notified by copyright holders.
