Apple and the Sun

In August of 2008, Apple engineers submitted a patent application relating to the electronics circuitry needed to use a solar cell embedded into a small device (see HERE), following a more general 2006 patent application for "Solar Cells on Portable Devices." (see HERE).

More recently Apple filed a patent application for a technology embedding solar cells under the touch screens of handheld devices. 

This may be a step toward a consumer electronic device entirely powered by solar energy. [...]
