Culture Brazilian PTO recognized geographical indications for wine and coffee
BRESIL

     The Brazilian PTO has just (last July 13) recognized the protection of two geographical indications: NORTE PIONEIRO DO PARANÁ for coffee (for the region of the State of Paraná), and also INDICAÇÃO DE PROCEDÊNCIA PB for wine (for the region of Bento Gonçalves and Farroupilha).
     The PTO has become more active in respect to geographical indications within the past years, and has been recognizing regularly such protection in our country, which is set forth at the Brazilian IP Law of 1996.
